GTC Approved Status for Centres

Criteria

  1. The Centre agrees to hold a minimum of one Sports Turf Industry Liaison meeting per annum.  NOTE: It is acceptable for Centres to hold a joint Liaison - Standardisation event.  See point 6 below.

    Agendas and minutes to be sent to GTC Headquarters

    Representation to include:

    1. Golf club employer (e.g. Secretary or Chairman of Green).
    2. Course Manager/Head Greenkeepers with at least one current registered learner.
    3. GTC representative, GTC representative bodies e.g. local BIGGA Section Secretary, GCMA regional representative, local Home Union County representative.
    4. Turf tutors and representatives from each group of students e.g. Diploma/SVQ programmes and others e.g. HN courses.
  2. A list of Sports turf programmes to be offered by the Centre is submitted to the GTC annually together with qualifications/experience of staff who would be involved in the delivery of each programme e.g. CV's of key staff are made available when requested by the GTC.

  3. The Centre agrees to submit a comprehensive list of relevant, appropriate facilities available to students on the Sports turf programmes when requested by the GTC.

  4. The Centre agrees to use the GTC learning materials (Levels 2 & 3) and ensure that the GTC Training Manual (hard copy version or e-portfolio) is used by all Diploma/SVQ Level 2 greenkeeper learners.

  5. The Centre agrees to have an effective communication system to ensure employers with staff registered on vocational programmes are kept up to date with candidates’s progress and wherever possible form a partnership with an A1 (formally D32/D33) qualified work based assessor.

  6. Centres agree to hold assessor standardisation meetings (as per Awarding Body Criteria).

  7. The Centre has a quality assurance system, which meets with Awarding Body approval.  Copies of External Verifier reports be sent or emailed to the GTC.  Note:  EV reports will cover some of the points within these criteria.
  8. The Centre management must furnish the GTC with a written commitment to fully supporting their Sports Turf staff by ensuring sufficient resources are available to meet the above criteria including a staff programme for continual professional development.

  9. The Centre agrees to allow at least one member of appropriate staff to attend a GTC organised annual staff development event.
