An invitation to Temple Golf Club...

A party of Danish greenkeepers are calling into Berkshire on their journey to Harrogate Week and Malcolm Peake has arranged several visits for the group over the weekend of 15th and 16th January 2011 and he now would like to extend the invitation to join them on the Sunday at Temple Golf Club.

Malcolm has arranged the following itinerary:

Sunday 16th January meet at Temple Golf Club (designed by Willie Park Jnr) for coffee at 11am, where Martin Gunn, Course Manager will talk about the Temple management.  This will be followed by a visit to see the compound and various composting projects. Lunch of Steak and Ale pie and chips about 1pm in the club followed by a trip around the course, returning to the club house for a customary English tea, of hot crumpets and cake, where we will be joined by Michael Barratt of The R&A Golf Course Committee, and Temple Secretary Keith Adderley.  It will be interesting for us to hear how the guys in Denmark are planning to manage with the strict controls of pesticides coming into force in 2011.  Food costs for the day at Temple will be £15 per head.

Other like minded Keepers of the Green would be welcome to join us at Temple, if there is room, the cost for food etc would be Â£15, and a donation to the Captains Charity of £5.  It will be very much an exchange of ideas and views, and will be a learning experience for us all.

Malcolm a former Chairman of Green himself is the author of "Confessions of a Chairman of Green" and "A Natural Course for Golf" and a keen supporter of greenkeeper education and training.
