GTC Chairman of Green Workshop hailed a great success...

Twenty four delegates, the majority of whom were Chairman of Green, attended a pilot workshop arranged by The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC) at Pleasington Golf Club, Lancashire on 25th May 2011.

Laurence Pithie, Master Greenkeeper - Turfmaster One, delivered the workshop as a GTC Quality Assured Training Provider.

Laurence covered all of the basics of best practice in course maintenance and management and the role of the Chairman of Green and the importance of a Course Policy Document.

Several delegates stated they had been Chairman of Green for many years however they had not attended any training courses and the day had been very enlightening and beneficial to them.

The GTC will now consider hosting more of these workshops around the country and to introduce some Health & Safety Awareness Days to specifically assist "employers" in their crucial role within the golf club.
