TRAINING MANUAL HELPS TOWARDS ACCREDITED QUALIFICATIONS

Groundsmen and woman can now refer to a Training Manual and an associated set of learning materials to gain a nationally accredited qualification.

The Manual not only meets the standards of the Level 2 Work Based Diploma (formerly NVQ) but it is also suitable for groundsmen and women working on any sports turf surface.

Produced in collaboration by the IOG and The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC), the Training Manual is proving to be increasingly popular with learners of all ages.

"The Manual is proving a huge asset to students," comments IOG Head of Professional Services Ian Lacy. "It is an important tool in the learning process."

Many Approved Centres, including colleges, are now using the Manual either in the hard copy, or e-portfolio format for learners of all ages. It is also a very useful recording tool for staff skills and knowledge even if they are not working towards a formal qualification.

Hard copy versions include a CD Rom with all the knowledge which underpins each task.
