STRI - putting safety first

STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) is delighted to have received a 'highly commended' recognition at the St John Ambulance First Aid Awards ceremony held at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Wednesday.

The glittering awards ceremony was run in association with The Mail on Sunday and HSW magazine and rewarded individuals, communities and businesses that are leading the way in first aid. The event was hosted by BBC journalist Sophie Raworth and attracted many celebrity supporters, including the Countess of Wessex and Suzi Perry from The Gadget Show.

The sports turf consultancy has invested time and money into training staff and raising awareness of first aid to ensure any emergencies can be managed quickly and efficiently. STRI has also acquired an automated external defibrillator (AED) and trained staff to use this to help both STRI staff and individuals from other local businesses in emergencies.

Gordon McKillop, CEO at STRI commented: "We are delighted to have received this high praise and recognition for the work we have done in implementing a comprehensive health and safety policy and we believe in providing our staff with the tools to keep safe and help others. First aid is a key component of our policy and we are keen to continue our role in the local community to raise the awareness of first aid and saving lives".

The sports turf company provides consultancy, research and builds and manages sports turf surfaces in the UK and all over the world for clients including FIFA, UEFA, LOCOG (for the Olympics 2012), the International Federation for Equestrian Sports, The R&A and Wimbledon.
